Welcome!  Your timing is perfect as we are seeking Volunteers interested in helping us with a variety of options and opportunities for you to consider.  Whether you have a couple hours or a couple days, we would love to have you on board! It can be a low commitment and high return for your time.

 Landscape Opportunities: April

General Crew for Spring Clean Up on Tuesdays, April 9, 16, & 23 9am-noon.

·         Entryway Improvement Project Crew Beginning April 1-Weather permitting., to include Ground prep for new plantings around the Gatehouse- More details to follow.

·         Perennial Boarder Crew- Calling all Gardeners.. We encourage you and friends to take ownership of a section of the flower beds or weed, deadhead a small section; every effort helps in the beautification of these gardens.

·         Rock Garden Crew- Love alpine plants and appreciate Clarence’s vision and file card system of all plantings. 

·         Nursery Supervisor- Help coordinate Volunteers for summer projects.

·         Nursery Crew- help propagate Fells native plants for future plant sales and plantings on the grounds. 

Main House Prepping, Staging, Cleaning and Opening to the Public: May

                We need at least 6-10 able bodied volunteers to help with opening the main house starting May 1st. This will include resetting the rooms with their rightful antiques and furnishings, dusting, vacuuming, washing windows, laundry, making beds, arranging the toys, hanging pictures; putting the personal touches in each room to make it feel like the Hay family is here.  Play the Downton Abby Theme song here.

Christmas at The Fells Committee Chairs for:

·         Family Night- crafts, cookies, cocoa, decorating, greeting families.

·         Boutique Manager-set up, displays, inventory, sales, breakdown and clean up.

·         Private Tour Coordinator

·         Photos with Santa helper 

·         Tree raffle sales helper

These are just a few of the remarkable opportunities we have at The Fells this summer. And by volunteering you have joined a very special group of people who have come to the John Hay Estate at The Fells to enjoy its tranquil beauty and offer their time and talent to help assure its preservation.
